Dr. David Sterman is an interventional pulmonologist specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer, malignant pleural mesothelioma, pleural effusions, and disorders of the large airways. He works closely with thoracic oncologists, radiation oncologists, and surgeons to develop individualized treatment plans and advance innovative approaches in interventional pulmonology and thoracic oncology. Dr. Sterman has served as Principal Investigator on numerous clinical trials and conducts research translating molecular discoveries into therapies, including gene therapy, oncolytic virotherapy, vaccine therapy, and intratumoral immunotherapies. He is a former President of both the American Association of Bronchoscopy and Interventional Pulmonology (AABIP) and the International Mesothelioma Interest Group (iMiG).

Dr. David Ost is a leader in pulmonary medicine and thoracic oncology, dedicated to advancing clinical care, education, and research. He is part of the Interventional Pulmonology Section at MD Anderson Cancer Center, specializing in advanced bronchoscopic and pleural procedures for both benign and malignant airway diseases. Dr. Ost’s research focuses on improving lung cancer diagnosis and staging using endobronchial ultrasound, optimizing bronchial stenting and pleural catheter strategies, and assessing the impact of bronchoscopic interventions on survival and healthcare utilization. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications and serves as Editor of the Journal of Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology.

Dr. Hill is an experienced clinician, researcher, and leader in pulmonary medicine, dedicated to advancing patient care, education, and lung health advocacy. He is nationally recognized for his work treating patients with severe lung diseases, including asthma and COPD. A long-time volunteer with the American Lung Association, he now serves as Chairman of its National Board of Directors and has testified before Congress on lung health and clean air. Dr. Hill has been principal investigator on over 75 pulmonary research trials, authored numerous publications, and is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians.

Dr. Sheila Habib is a board-certified pulmonologist and an active member of the American College of Chest Physicians. Her clinical practice focuses on complex respiratory conditions including lung nodules, lung metastases, bronchitis, and interstitial lung disease, combining evidence-based medicine with patient-centered care to advance outcomes in lung health. Her peer-reviewed publications include an economic evaluation of CyPath® Lung, bioAffinity Technologies’ noninvasive lung cancer diagnostic, published in the Journal of Health Economics and Outcomes Research. Her work combines clinical leadership in lung cancer screening with contributions to academic research and evidence-based diagnostics.

Dr. Ferguson specializes in diagnosing and treating a broad range of lung conditions, including lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema, and asthma, with a clinical focus on lung cancer and tumors. As Director of the UW Interventional Pulmonary Program, he leads both clinical training and advanced procedural care. His approach emphasizes team-based care, patient education, and empowering individuals to make informed decisions about their health. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Ferguson conducts research aimed at developing new diagnostic methods and treatments for lung cancer and COPD, contributing to the advancement of both patient care and medical knowledge in pulmonary medicine.

Dr. Bansal is a board-certified specialist in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine with more than 20 years of clinical experience. He is highly trained in minimally invasive pulmonary procedures, including navigational and robotic bronchoscopy, endobronchial ultrasound, bronchial thermoplasty and chest sonography. Dr. Bansal helped develop a comprehensive lung center model that enables rapid assessment and management of complex pulmonary conditions based on regional population needs and available resources. His leadership has helped bring advanced pulmonary technologies — including robotics for early disease diagnosis and treatment — as well as robust lung cancer screening and population health programs to the communities he serves.

Dr. Alexis is a nationally recognized expert in sputum-based airway analysis and a leader in the application of flow cytometry to evaluate cellular, biochemical and genetic outcomes in the human airway. He has advanced the use of induced sputum as a primary, noninvasive sampling tool to study airway pathophysiology and environmental health effects in individuals with pre-existing airway disease. Dr. Alexis’ research focuses on host defense and inflammatory responses in lung diseases such as asthma, COPD and cystic fibrosis, with particular emphasis on how air pollution and other inhaled exposures alter immune function and contribute to disease severity.
